WE will not forget: Remembrance Sunday is particularly poignant this year, with the centenary of the start of ‘The War To End All Wars’ – how sadly untrue. Services will be held in Rotherwick this Sunday, at 8.30am, at St Michael’s, Heckfield, starting at 10.50am (to be seated in time for the two-minute silence) and evensong in Mattingley Church at 6.30pm. Listen out for the big tenor bell over the coming weeks as it tolls on the passing dates of the village men named on our war memorials who did not come home.

More details to come but in the meantime do support your local poppy collector when he/she comes round.

DEALS on wheels: The penultimate visit of our mobile library van will be this Saturday, from 12.30pm to 1pm.

It will be parked outside Whitewater School, between those times, and carries everything from the latest novels to current DVDs and music. As this service is unfortunately being discontinued in January, the last chance to return items locally will be December 6.
