REST in peace...and rise in glory! Many will remember The Reverend Philip Brownless, who was vicar of Mattingley and Heckfield from 1971 to 1984, and included Rotherwick from 1974 onwards, as part of the HMR parish we know today.

He retired to Chichester in 1984 and sadly died there last week, aged 94.

Following a private family funeral, there will be a public memorial service planned for October.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and we hope that he would be gratified to know his legacy on the parish is still going strong 30 years on!

SUPERMAN....can change in a phone booth, but we may soon have a lending-library in ours!

Suggestions on what to do with our fabulously-restored telephone kiosk have included a village swap-shop for books, which the parish council is considering on a trial basis.

Let the parish clerk know what you think, or any other ideas you may have.
