LOCAL Plan: The parish council has been looking into the impact of future development on Rotherwick and how to ensure planning issues do not compromise the essential character of the village in the absence of a district Local Plan.
Following lengthy discussions, it has been decided to set up a Neighbourhood Plan for the area within the parish boundary, which will be on an equal statutory footing with any future Local Plan being developed by the district council.
The Rotherwick Neighbourhood Plan will take about 18 months to complete and will culminate in a parish referendum. To bring the plan into legal force, it will need the support of more than 50 per cent of resident voters.
