LODDON Sports FC: Held a soccer school on the village green last week, when two coaches from Reading Football Club came to coach them.
Fred Berntsen says: “Twenty-five players took part and the soccer school was very successful, thanks to the coaches from Reading, who were excellent.”
EVERGREENS: May says: “The August meeting was an interesting talk about Naomi House and Jacksplace, which are hospices for children and young adults.
“The next meeting on Monday, September 1, is a talk by Jenny Edwards, an alternative therapist.”
NWR: The August meeting was the book evening. Gill says: “We discussed the book My Dear I Wanted To Tell You by Louise Young. We all enjoyed the book very much. It sprang from the author's research into her grandmother, who had worked with Major Harold Gillies, a pioneer of plastic surgery during the First World War.”
THANKS: To Gill Fearon, who has been taking care of the news while I’ve been away recently.
