DRAMA first: Silchester Players present Twelfth Night, their first Shakespeare offering in October. Look out for dates.

CRICKET: Silchester beat promotion rivals IBM Hursley by five wickets last Saturday, bowling out their opponents for 102. Lee Jones made 38 for Silchester. Next Saturday they are home to league leaders Otterbourne in what appears to be a must-win match.

ROMAN site: Silchester said goodbye to the diggers at the Roman site. We wonder if we shall see any of them next year?

BEER Festival: September 13 – your £11 ticket will include two drinks, a light supper and a Silchester tankard. Tickets now on sale from Jays Stores and the Calleva Arms.

ORGAN update: Repairs in the church move slowly, respecting the age of our organ. It was good to see the scaffolding come down and we regret the inconvenience to visitors.

RIDE and Stride: Takes place throughout Hampshire on September 13, from 10am to 6pm.

Some 360 churches have registered to take part – who will visit the most?
