TIME to remember: Saturday, August 2, sees the First World War commemoration event, from noon until 4.30pm at the Royal British Legion Club in Crown Lane.
This will be an exciting occasion and souvenir programmes (with a free draw for a balloon flight) are already on sale at numerous local outlets.
CARNIVAL time: A huge turnout on a lovely summer’s day produced over £5,000 for local charities, so well done and a huge thank you to all the willing helpers, who made for such success.
Donald Grassi has offered to take on the chairmanship of the village hall committee, thus ensuring another good year for this important village venue.
RILEY Lane Cemetery: There will be a parish council inspection here on July 30, so please ensure that inappropriate items are removed by this date. Details of the regulations, which serve to ensure the peaceful and contemplative nature of the site, are posted on the noticeboard at the gates.
VILLAGE Show: Knitters and crocheters will be pleased to know that they can now enter their items in the Needlecraft section on September 7.
