PHONE box SOS: So long a part of our village scene, the red phone booth, next to the village hall, is an endangered species!
Now looked after by the parish council, the Rotherwick telephone box is a Kiosk No. 6, designed by Giles Gilbert Scott in 1935 to celebrate King George V’s Silver Jubilee and is need of some urgent TLC.
Ann Bennet and Madeline Coak are co-ordinating the effort to give it a good sandpapering and re-paint over this weekend, weather permitting, and would love some volunteers to help preserve our little piece of national heritage. If you can lend a hand please ring Madeline on 762533 or email her on mcoak@hotmail.com.
FLOWER power: Whitewater PTA is looking for floral contributions to add finesse to their Midsummer Ball this Saturday, by converting their marquee into an enchanted forest! Any offerings of blooms or greenery would be greatly appreciated and could be collected today or Saturday morning.
Please telephone 07919 157452 or email WhitewaterPTA@gmail.com.
