PALM Sunday Walk: Some 150 walkers joined the Second Augustan Legion, and Rupert the donkey led the procession along the drove to the church, where The Reverend Canon Ken Batt gave the address.

This was followed by lunch at The Calleva Arms, where gifts were given to Sue Elliott, retiring head of Silchester School and to Marsden and Nancy Jones, who have now retired from organising this walk – after some 12 years!

EASTER Services in the Parish Church: Maundy Thursday, at 7.30pm, Good Friday, at 9.30am, outside the Methodist Church, followed at 2.30pm in the Parish Church with a short meditation service. On Easter Day, the service in St Mary’s will be at 10am and at the Methodist Church at 10.30am.

SILCHESTER Association AGM: Thanks were expressed to the outgoing committee. A new committee was elected and officers will be named shortly.

BERKSHIRE Brass Ensemble: Played a terrific concert in church with a superb selection of music for brass together with a solo jazz pianist who added to the enjoyable evening. Money raised was for our organ fund.
