GARDENING Club: Met on Monday, February 17, and the speaker was Roy Broughton (RHS Wisley and Sparsholt lecturer).
John says: “Roy’s talk on Easy Plants for Difficult Places was enjoyed by about 30 members, a good number considering the awful weather.”
The next meeting is on Monday, March 17, when Rosy Hardy, 13 times Gold Medal winner at Chelsea, will be talking about "Gardening with Perennials".
PARISH council: From the meeting on February 12 – the monthly safety report and playground inspection report were noted. The chairman reported that the Governance Review proposal is due to go before the borough council at the end of March and, subject to approval, has a target date to start in early April. The current financial situation was noted and bank statements signed. The consideration of employment of a youth worker was not discussed, as figures had not been submitted in time. The clerk is due to circulate figures in time for the next meeting, which is on March 12.
FINALLY: Happy birthday to Phillip Horton, who will be 21 on Saturday.
