LONG Tall Sallies: On Sunday, February 9, a quarter peal of 1,260 changes of Plain Bob Doubles was rung in 43 minutes at Rotherwick before the Evensong service to celebrate the 70th birthday of Tony Walker, our ringing master. The other ringers were Nici Giles, Ros Fox, Joseph Sharp, Kevin Fox, and Martin Barnes.
Special thanks are due to Kevin Fox, ringing master of Crondall, and his wife Ros for helping by being members of the band. The quarter peal was also notable as it was a first for Reuben Chasey, who rang the treble, and prefaced the rector’s last Evensong at Rotherwick church before his retirement.
