ALI Baba: The Players’ panto starts on January 31 and continues on February 1, 7 and 8 with matinees on Saturday. Curtain up 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 and concessions £6 from 0118 9815600 (they are selling fast!).
CAROL singing: An event at The Calleva Arms raised £83 for St Michael’s Hospice. The singers were accompanied by five French horn players, led by Hannah.
ENTERTAINING: Phoenix Club members and other seniors were entertained at The Hurst Community College on December 18, with singing and fun entertainment from the students, carols from Miss Polly’s Kindergarten and a lovely tea with a glass of wine, too. Many thanks to the staff and students and to those who gave raffle and bingo prizes.
CHRISTMAS services: These were well supported at both our churches in the village. Around 170 people attended the Crib Service and there was a large crowd at the 11.30pm service too.
ROMAN talk: A very advance notice that Professor Fulford will speak on February 14 in the village hall with news of findings at the summer dig. Tickets are £3 for adults and children £1. It’s 7.40pm for an 8pm start.
