MUCH missed: Annette Hill, who was a former resident of Sherfield, passed away last week.
Annette was known to many in the village and I had the pleasure of meeting her and hearing her stories from when she was an active member of the ATA during the Second World War as a ferry pilot.
Annette will be very sadly missed by her family and friends.
NWR: Held their music evening last week. Gill says: “It was music from the British Isles. We had a lively mix of music, from the classical (Elgar, Vaughn Williams, Purcell) to folk (Steeleye Span, Fiddlers Dram) to military (Central Band of the RAF, Coldstream Guards) to rock/pop (Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Kinks, Coldplay) and ballads (Wings, John Lennon, and Leo Sayer) and more!”
HOLLY Market: Saturday, October 26, in the village hall, from 10am-2pm. Seasonal-sales@ hotmail.co.uk. Gifts, food, tombola proceeds to the Poppy Appeal.
FLOWER Power: Flares and miniskirts were all in evidence in the hall last Saturday, for the 1960s/1970s disco, which was held as a fundraiser for the village hall.
