TIME to clean up our act: The parish council is again inviting residents to volunteer as ‘litter-picker-uppers’ for the annual village tidy this Saturday, meeting at 10am at the village hall car park.
Wear sturdy clothing, boots and gloves – equipment and refreshments will be provided. Please come along and join in.
CLEANLINESS is next to godliness: Mattingley church will receive its annual spring clean next Wednesday, from 9.30am. All help would be greatly appreciated.
BLAST from the past: If you’ve ever thought of Three Mile Cross as a drive-through on the way to Reading, think again! A local lass, Alexandra Drayton, has set up a blog to reintroduce the works of Mary Russell Mitford, a contemporary of Jane Austen and friend of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, who wrote a series of charming vignettes of village life after she moved there in 1820. Log on to unearthing ourvillagewordpress.com and have a look.
