JONATHAN Jones entertained members of Oakley and Deane WI at their December meeting with a wonderful rendition in character of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It certainly bought the tale to life and kept members enthralled. There was also an exhibition during the evening of various copies of the same story.
Nibbles and wine were enjoyed during the evening and reports were given on recent events including a lovely Christmas lunch at The Red House in Whitchurch and a cookery and seasonal floral decoration day at Denman, which was attended by three members.
2012 is starting off with several events organised by the Federatione including a Royal Fun Quiz, a “New Elizabethans” day and a speaker selection day. Oakley and Deane WI have a varied and interesting programme arranged for 2012 and would be very pleased to welcome anyone who would like to come to join us. To start the year in January, there is a talk and demonstration on scrapbooking and a bring-and-buy sale.
The meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the village hall, in Andover Road, at 7.30pm.
