“PAINTING through my Life” was the title of a talk given by Penny Loveridge to members of Oakley and Deane WI at their meeting recently.

Penny was interested in painting from an early age and she exhibited many delightful pictures which were virtually a picture diary of her life marking many milestones.

There were landscapes taken from her bedroom windows while a student in London, portraits, abstracts and many others including some of the stained glass windows in her local church.

During the meeting, the resolutions were discussed and it was agreed to support both of these. One was to urge HM Government to ensure that planning permission is not guaranteed for the development of factory farming particularly for large animals such as pigs and cows; and the second one was to urge HM Government to maintain support for local libraries as an essential local educational and information resource.

Arrangements were confirmed for a team to compete in the group quiz and also for the visit to Buscot and Lechlade and details were given of other forthcoming events arranged both by the federation and other local WIs which many will be attending.

At the June meeting, Lynette Ingram will be talking and demonstrating Scrapbooking and any guests will be most welcome. The meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of the month, at the usual venue of the village hall, in Andover Road, at 7.30pm.
