FOR those looking to volunteer, Basingstoke Volunteer Centre can help find the answers to what, where, when and how to do so.

The centre works with local voluntary, community and charitable organisations that are in need of volunteers in order to fulfil their mission and help the people and communities in Basingstoke and Deane.

It maintains a database of volunteering opportunities in the borough and north Hampshire.

You can search and apply for roles that suit what you are looking for and can be accessed via volunteernorthhants.org.

Alternatively you can visit drop-in session in the Basingstoke Discovery Centre held on the second, third, fourth and fifth Tuesday of each month from 9.45am to 11.45am.

The centre also offers one-to-one appointments, either in person or over the telephone, giving people the chance to discuss their interests, what they want to get out of volunteering, and the skills and commitment they can offer.

The centre can then help interested people to identify which organisations can benefit most from their input and which opportunities they might enjoy.

To book an appointment or ask any questions contact vc@bvaction.org.uk or phone 01256 423850 between Monday and Friday 9.30am to 2.30pm.

As all charities and community groups require volunteers, they should consider exactly what roles they require, include all relevant details and times required etc and get that profile publish via the Basingstoke Volunteer Centre team on its Volunteer Database.

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people. It allows people to connect with your community and make it a better place.

It can also be of great benefit to volunteers, allowing then to gain career experience, learn valuable new skills or to perhaps increase their self-confidence.

Volunteers Week runs from June 1 to June 7 so why not recognise those who volunteer for you?
