VAN rental firm Hertz UK has expanded its Van Supersite network with a new hub in Basingstoke. The van hire company provides an impressive range of vehicles, including Luton box vehicles, crew cabs and tippers, at its Basingstoke Van Supersite, at Exhibition Court, in Armstrong Road.
With national demand increasing 10-fold in the past five years alone, the Basingstoke business has outgrown its previous outlet, which was nearby at County House, also in Armstrong Road.
The new site is five times larger, putting the town firmly on the map for Hertz’s Supersite network.
It was opened by general manager Neil Cunningham, who said: “We’re delighted to be expanding within Basingstoke. We’ve seen great growth here already and plan to push this forward with the launch of the new site. “The local team is already doing fantastic work, so it’s brilliant that we’ll be able to welcome new members and create new jobs.”
The company plans to double staff to 25 by the end of this year and increase jobs by a further 30 per cent over the next two years as part of its ambitious growth strategy.
Mr Cunningham said the Basingstoke Van Supersite will support standard and bespoke van hire requirements. Customers will have access to expertise on commercial vehicles, maintenance and service support, as well as efficient repairs on both non-warranty and warranty vehicles. Additionally, the network will offer fleet management services that allow fleet managers to effectively cut administration costs, reduce pool fleet numbers and streamline vehicle usage.
Michel Taride, president of Hertz International, said: “Van rental offers an unbeatable alternative to investing in vehicle ownership. It reduces the financial commitment companies have to put into everything from breakdown cover and insurance to getting a fleet of vehicles taxed and ready for the road.
“The trend for van fleet rentals instead of purchases is increasing, and this shift in behaviour has created a requirement for our van business to expand. We are excited to be expanding and increasing the number of people we employees in Basingstoke.”
