Pupils from four schools gather by the Chineham Park coach
FOUR Basingstoke primary schools took part in the SchoOlympics – thanks to MEPC Chineham Park.
The SchoOlympians were picked up from their schools and taken to Popley Fields Community Centre on the Chineham Park Coach, which runs on chip fat fuel.
The four schools – Winklebury Junior, Great Binfields Primary, Four Lanes Primary and Oakridge Junior – took part in an opening and closing ceremony at the Hampshire County Council organised event.
Robert Green, team leader of the Community Safety Patrol Officers, at Hampshire County Council, said: “We wanted to run an event that would bring the schools together. Being Olympic year, we
thought this would be a great opport-unity for the four schools to take part in a school Olympic event. “
“As this was very much about the community coming together, we asked Chineham Park if we could use their coach and they kindly agreed.”
Richard Hawkes, estate manager for MEPC Chineham Park, said: “At Chineham Park, we are always looking for ways of engaging with the community and providing help where we can.”
