Stagecoach staff in cycle challenge

Challenge winners Bob Hannam, Paul Ferreira and Richard Fernandez
BUS drivers, engineering and administration staff from Stagecoach’s Basingstoke and Winchester depots launched the company’s Green awareness week in the South by cycling nearly 25 miles between bus stations.
Lead riders Paul Ferreira, for Basingstoke, and Richard Fernandez, from Winchester, passed each other in New Alresford and both completed the course within 1 hour, 34 minutes.
Both men were presented with prizes and bus driver Rob Hannam accepted the team trophy, designed by engineers within the depots using old bus parts, on behalf of the Basingstoke workforce.
Dave Fulford, assistant operations manager and green champion at Stagecoach, who also participated, said that he hoped that the challenge would become an annual event.
He said: “Many of the participants did very well and some were using cycles provided through the income tax beneficial Cycle To Work scheme.”
