THE Basingstoke Live festival saw magic and music brought to a Top of The Town restaurant.

The Mayflower Chinese Restaurant, at May Place, played host to a Basingstoke Live Fringe event last week, where diners were treated to an exotic assortment of entertainment, from a Chinese magic show to lion dancing, performed by the London Chinese Acrobatic Team.

Other entertainment included belly dancing from Queen Mary’s College dance student Christine Addington and music from Mayflower waiter Hiro Fam along with local singer John O’Haloran.

Proprietor Pam Cheng said: “We thought we’d like to get involved with the local community and be a part of Basingstoke Live by bringing some lively entertainment to this part of town – and we feel it’s been a great success. The entertainment was fantastic.”

Among other businesses that offered Basingstoke Live Fringe events were The Sanctuary bar and restaurant, in London Street, along with the Bang Bar in Basing View.
