HAINES Watts Chartered Accountants are on the look out for inspiring employers who look after their work force.
The firm based at ViewPoint, on Basing View, is again sponsoring the Employer of the Year category at this year’s INSPIRE10 Business Awards.
Haines Watts partner David Smy said: “We’re looking for an employer who still cares for its workforce dur ing this difficult economic time.”
Acknowledging that many compa nies have had to make tough deci sions over the last couple of years, he said: “It’s not just about money – it’s about other things like making sure there is support for training and sometimes benefits in kind, such as medical benefits, as quite often they can be done in a very tax efficient manner.”
Encouraging business from across north Hampshire to enter the awards, where 12 categories are up for grabs, David said he was impressed with last year’s category winner, Sainsbury’s Retail Service Centre, based on the Houndmills Industrial Estate. The depot, which employs close to 1,000 people and serves 60 supermarkets across the south, has a number of initiatives that impressed judges.
But size is not a key factor in win ning.
David said: “I think any size of business has a good chance, not just the large employers like Sainsbury’s. It’s the quality not the quantity that counts.”
The INSPIRE10 Business Awards are open to entries from any busi nesses based, or with a large large proportion of customers in north Hampshire covering Basingstoke and Deane, Hart, Rushmoor and Test Valley. The deadline for entries is Friday, September 10.
Although the venue of the gala awards dinner is still to be announced, it will take place on Thursday, November 18.
