THE world’s local bank is backing this year’s INSPIRE10 Business Awards.

For the third year running, HSBC is sponsoring the Exporter of the Year Award – one of the many prizes up for grabs for local businesses.

Cheryl Adams, HSBC’s area commercial director for Basingstoke, said: “HSBC works with some of the region’s most successful domestic and interna tional companies.

“We think it is important to recognise and reward the hard work and outstanding leadership of businesses across the region that have taken advantage of the opportunities that lie overseas and are now successfully export ing internationally.

“We’ve seen from our sponsor ship of this award over the past two years that many businesses in Basingstoke and the north Hampshire area are already exporting internationally with huge success.”

Offering advice to encourage local businesses to look at the export market, Cheryl said: “The current economic climate and relative weakness of the pound makes the exploration of new markets more attractive than ever before.

“However, whilst the opportu nities for businesses to export are extensive, they can seem daunting. Before taking steps to begin exporting, it’s important that business owners do their homework to ensure they under stand the markets they intend to export to and are aware of the risks.
