WITH procurement in local gov ernment being a hot topic for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), and a key component of its Keep Trade Local Campaign, the business support organisation is offering a series of masterclasses.
Taking place at Basingstoke Golf Club, on Tuesday, February 9, starting at 7am, businesses in north Hampshire have an opportu nity to find out about how their local councils and other public authorities buy goods and services.
FSB North Hampshire Branch chairman Tim Colman, (pictured) who is a specialist in procurement, said: “Our local councils spend the taxpayers’ money, and awarding contracts to local businesses makes sense.
“Keeping trade local is good for local economies and is a sustain able way of trading. We hope that this series of presentations will help small businesses understand how public sector procurement works and how they can write win ning bids.”
The event will be the first of four, being organised by the North Hampshire Branch, to focus on this topic and is called Getting Ready To Bid. The second meeting will take place on May 11, at the same venue, and will concentrate on finding the opportunities.
Details of this and the final two presentations will be announced at a later date.
The four presentations together form the basis of the Procurement Masterclasses that Tim has run across the country. The cost to attend is £11 and includes a full- English breakfast. The meeting is open to FSB members and anyone considering joining.
