A BASINGSTOKE salon has diversified to improve the level of hair care it provides for its clients.

FHC for Hair owner Graham Kent has opened a hair care centre at his salon at Elmwood Parade, in Elmwood Way, Winklebury.

Using hair and scalp scanners, Mr Kent and his team are able to diagnose and treat problems such as hair loss, psoriasis, dandruff, dry scalp, split ends and damage caused by hair products.

A scanner uses a camera and microscope to magnify the scalp surface up to 600 times.

Mr Kent said: “Using this technology, it is now possible to see and analyse hair and scalp problems with great accuracy. We can now show before and after images of the scalp so that we can determine the treatment required and unlike traditional microscopes, we can project the field of view onto a monitor and record results on a PC.

“Texture, colour and flakiness of the scalp, along with clogged follicles can be seen very clearly and before and after images allow you to see how one treatment has affected the scalp so that we can make an informed decision about subsequent treatments.”

Mr Kent believes FHC for Hair is one of the first salons in the country to offer this service and the team have already successfully treated more than 60 clients. The new development follows on from last year when FHC for Hair launched its own brand of shampoos and conditioners.
