A CHARTERED accountancy firm has sponsored a leadership seminar at a prestigious military venue.

The Basingstoke Haines Watts branch, in Sarum Hill, sponsored a leadership seminar and dinner for owners and directors of small-medium enterprises at the Royal Military Academy (RMA), Sandhurst.

At the dinner practical aspects of leadership were discussed, including successful methods and strategies.

Keynote speaker was Baroness Ruby McGregor-Smith, formerly chief executive officer of FTSE 250 company Mitie who spoke about her motivation and experiences alongside the commandant of RMA Sandhurst, Major General Paul Nanson CBE.

Barry Potter, a partner at Haines Watts said, “We work with a wide range of owner-managed businesses and many people have learnt to lead as they go along. These types of events where leaders can share ideas and ask questions are invaluable. As a firm we support this because our approach is more holistic - we look at directors, shareholders and their life objectives, as well as focusing on the business.

“We are therefore delighted that our own Leadership Development Programme has been shortlisted for the 2017 CIPD awards.”

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) People Management Awards reward and celebrate outstanding achievement in people management and development, recognising the contribution that human resources and learning and development make to the success of an organisation. The results will be announced at the awards ceremony in September.

The RMA event was also sponsored by Metro Bank, Hart Brown Solicitors, and JFP Strategic Planning, in conjunction with the Sandhurst Trust.
