WINGATE Building Services played host to a charity golf day that raised close to £4,500.

The fundraising efforts held at Basingstoke Golf Club were for Naomi House and Jacksplace hospices, in Sutton Scotney.

Wingate Electrical plc which trades under the Wingate Building Services name, is headquartered in Rutherford Road, had invited representatives from companies that are part of its supply chain to the event.

Tina Starbuck, corporate account fundraiser at Naomi House and Jacksplace, who also attended the event, said: “This is the third year that Wingate have kindly supported us with their golf day and they have raised around £18,000 to date, which is incredible.”

Among those playing was development director Terry Taber and new board member Matthew Cummings.

Terry said: “It was a fantastic day with 18 teams, providing a good opportunity to network and promote Naomi House and Jacksplace.”

Terry said it was great to see Matthew enjoy the day, as he is likely to be involved in organising the event next year.

Terry, who is stepping down from the board of directors in September 2017, said: “Matthew is a Basingstoke lad, who has been with the company for about 28 years.

“He’s has come through all of the departments from within the organisation, starting right at the bottom as an electrician.

“He knows the business incredibly well and he knows what the company can do and what it can’t.”

Matthew, who was previously contracts manager for Wingate’s Birmingham office, also enjoyed the day out on the golf course.

He said: “It’s an exciting time for Wingate – so it’s a good company and it’s a good place to be.”
