THE sixth floor of a Basing View office building was recently used to make a prequel to The Matrix.

ViewPoint which is owned by serviced office provider Business Environment (BE) was turned into a film set by budding production company 3RUN Media.

It is headed by CEO Chase Armitage, who is part of trail blazing 3RUN which is a professional performance team specialising parkour, free running, martial arts and urban acrobatics.

“We were shooting in the BE offices for a short film we’re working on,” explained Chase.

“I’m directing the film and working on it with all the 3RUN team as a passion project.

“The working title is Rise of Smith and is a take on The Matrix.

“Luckily my sister Jade Armitage works for BE offices and her boss Lisa Liney was super lovely allowing us to film at ViewPoint.

“I have to thank Jade and Lisa for letting us use the super cool office space for a big scene in our movie.”

Chase is no stranger to the movie industry having been called upon several times as a parkour consultant, such as the up and coming science thriller DxM.

He has been a supervisor and acted in free running and hip hop film You Got Served: Beat The World and has worked on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Death race 2.

Now 3RUN is gaining more and more recognition for its film productions.

“We’re all avid film makers and its nice our work is getting picked up all over the globe,” said Chase.

“Not long ago we shot two commercials for Thomson Cruises, which we produced 100 per cent in-house.

“And now we’re building up a really healthy CV of productions.”

“These were shot and directed by myself and Adam Brashaw and performed by Mike Wilson, Shaun Andrews, Chris Lodge and Sam Parham.

“We’re really proud of these two commercials, as we were literally given the full rein of a cruise ship.”

In the second commercial 3RUN race across Jamaica competing against Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake.

“Since then we have produced adverts for Sony, Panasonic and Wall’s,” said Chase.

Jade, who is assistant manager at ViewPoint said: “It was really interesting to be a part of and watch the guys filming something as opposed to them being the stars in it.

“It was a lot of fun as a lot of our friends came down to be extras, so there was a lot of work as well as play.

“Obviously the use of the sixth floor was cleared with our London head office and they were over the moon that BE Basingstoke would be getting such great publicity.”
