MOTHERING Sunday represents a new chapter for award winning Petra Jewellery, based at Viables Craft Centre.

Paint brushes will be at the ready on Sunday as mum and daughter team Petra Moore and Mitch Lloyd start preparation work for the firm’s move to premises called The Cottage at the craft centre.

Mitch’s six-year-old daughter Heidi will also be offering a helping hand at The Cottage which is expected to be open for business in the coming months.

Mitch said: “Our little shop, formerly a stable, was the original home of our family business, started by mum in 1979.

“We outgrew the space in our tiny stable as our reputation spread and we doubled in size, but we’re bursting at the seams now with a team of seven and it’s time to expand again.”

Mitch, who officially joined the business eight years ago as director and chief designer, said she could not believe her luck when she discovered that The Cottage was available.

Mitch said: “It’s a huge amount of work, all of which we’ve project managed as a family, from damp problems to sourcing and selecting our gorgeous display cabinets.

“The Cottage, a beautifully quaint 100-year-old building on the Viables Craft Centre site will present extensive opportunities for the business and a much wider choice for our loyal customers with a new creative suite, a VIP lounge and a workshop for on-site repairs.

“We’re only using local tradesmen for the refurbishment and it’s quite remarkable the difference it makes.

“Everyone is really emotionally committed and it shows in the superb standard of their work.”
