Amey launches Supplier Academy for Hampshire businesses
A COMPANY that keeps Hampshire moving has launched its new Supplier Academy.
Since 2008, award-winning Amey has been responsible for maintaining the county’s 9,000-kilometre road network, and has recently seen its contract extended after delivering £2m of savings.
Now, the company has devised a series of seminars aimed at improving the knowledge and capabilities of its local suppliers.
The Supplier Academy events were launched by Gary Carvell, Amey’s group director of health and safety, who presented an Excellence Seminar on behavioural safety.
Held at The Holiday Inn, near Winchester, it was attended by people from 14 different companies in Amey’s Hampshire supply chain.
David Ogden, Amey’s account director in Hampshire, said: “It was a fantastic turn out which shows a real appetite for this kind of event here in Hampshire.
“We work closely with our local supply chain already but, as a national company, Amey has a wealth of expertise and best practice to share that could really help local businesses develop and grow.
“Running events like this is part of Amey’s commit-ment to invest in the communities it works in, and businesses it works with.”
Mr Carvell added: “Amey has its own internal Target Zero Every Day campaign, which has helped us to achieve significant improvements in our safety performance over the last ten years.
“Today, I’ve been talking to the Hampshire supply chain about how a greater emphasis on safe behaviour will help them improve their own safety record and reduce factors that may lead to injuries.”
