Basingstoke IT security specialist Accumuli has sold its Webscreen Systems subsidiary in a £6.37million deal

BASINGSTOKE IT security specialist, Accumuli plc, has sold one of its subsidiaries – Webscreen Systems – in a £6.37million deal.

The business was sold to an American networking provider, Juniper Networks.

Accumuli chief executive Gavin Lyons, based at the company’s Tuscany House head office, in White Hart Lane, Eastrop, said: “We’re delighted that Webscreen Systems’ superior technology will become part of Juniper’s global portfolio and help many organisations protect themselves against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.”

DDoS attacks paralyse computer systems by flooding them with a huge number of online requests.

Mr Lyons added: “I have no doubt it will be a successful relationship. Accumuli’s decision to divest the business will allow the company to focus on its core strategy.”

He said Accumuli is focused on expanding the three pillars of its business – technology, professional services and managed services.

Mr Lyons said: “Our goal is to help organisations secure their business against the ever-increasing threat landscape in the most cost-effective way. The scale and variety of threats continues to grow at a substantial pace and it’s our responsibility to bring together complementary technology solutions and expert services to safeguard our customers’ infrastructure and data.

“The sale of Webscreen Systems assets gives us substantial resources to continue growing our market share in the IT security sector by concentrating on what we are good at.”

AIM-listed Accumuli acquired Webscreen Systems when it purchased Boxing Orange in March 2011, costing the company £5.48m.
