HELEN McCusker is clearly a remarkable young woman who has used her media background to launch her successful PR company – Booked PR.

The business specialises in promoting authors and their books. Based in Petersfield, Helen has had considerable success in gaining a loyal customer base.

She has shown an impressive commitment to giving something back to the business community and has an admirable desire to work with young entrepreneurs, sharing her experience and skills.

Helen was an INSPIRE finalist last year so she was over the moon to win her award this time, watched by her proud fiancé Matthew Best.

“It’s my first-ever award win since I launched my business four years ago,” exclaimed Helen.

“I have actually reached the finals of five or six business awards. And this was my last chance to win Young Business Person of the Year as I’m actually turning 30 at the end of the month.”

This category was open to all successful go-getting entrepreneurs aged under 30.

“It’s been an amazing year because Matthew and I got engaged this year, I’ve just bought my first house and now I’ve won this award,” said Helen.

“I think the INSPIRE awards are just brilliant. I know that maybe I’m a little bit biased because I have just won an award, but this is the best awards event I have ever attended – and I’ve been to a few.”

Helen, along with Matthew, is a volunteer speaker for Young Enterprise South East.

She said: “I want to use the award to inspire young people, so I’m going to make sure I do that.”

Presenting the award was Councillor Ray Ellis, Hampshire’s executive member for economic development and rural affairs, who praised Helen for her drive and commitment.
