A WELL-established hair salon is banking on further success after its move to new premises.

FHC for Hair has moved from Elmwood Parade, in Winklebury, where it was based for 22 years, to the former HSBC premises at Tempus Business Park, at Houndmills.

Salon owner Graham Kent said: “We were at the end of our lease and were unable to agree new terms with the landlord, so when the bank became vacant it was too good an opportunity to miss.” Graham, who runs the business with his wife Marie, was keen for the salon to be close to its former Winklebury premises and client-base.

The former bank premises needed a complete refit, which was undertaken by Commercial & General Interiors using a lot of material and furnishings recycled from the Elmwood Parade salon.

This included the seven styling stations and basins in the shampoo section and dryer banks.

“Carl Gulliford and his team have been brilliant and his co-operation and advice first class,” said Graham.

“The whole refit was done in two weeks.”

He joked: “Not only have we recycled the equipment but also the salon team. And we will be looking for senior stylists and juniors to come and join us shortly.”

“I can’t wait to show our customers around the new salon,” said Marie. “Although the salon is a similar size to our old one, the layout is much improved and makes more efficient use of space.”

The salon offers a range of hairdressing services and has built a reputation for specialising in hair and scalp treatments.
