Victorian terrace on market

NINE viewings on a Victorian house in the heart of Basingstoke saw it come under offer in 24 hours.

The terraced home (pictured right) in Burgess Road came to the market for the first time in 20 years and two of the offers received by estate agents Savoy were at the asking price of £225,000.

The property, which is close to Basingstoke railway station, had been on the rental market for several years and came to the open market for refurbishment.

The accommodation in the house stretched from a cellar to an eaves bedroom with a skylight window. Two bedrooms on the first floor still feature cast-iron fireplaces.

Both ground-floor reception rooms also retain cast-iron fireplaces, and leading off the kitchen-breakfast room is a rear lobby with a door into the cloak-cum-utility room. The bathroom is on the first floor.

Arched sash windows are also a period feature of the house which now needs its back garden landscaping.
