ODIHAM teenage ice hockey star Emily Harris was voted the Great Britain Player of the Tournament by the GB Supporters Club at the World Championships held in Poland.

It capped her Great Britain debut tournament in fine style and the 14-year-old also won the Player of the Game award against Denmark.

The under-18 Women's team finished in fourth place out of six teams in the event.

They had a tough draw which saw them play the eventual winners Italy in the first game and they went down 3-1.

This was followed up by another loss against second placed Denmark 5-1, but for young forward Harris, whose work rate was second to none on the team, was thrilled to pick up her Player of Match award for GB.

The third game of the tournament proved to a heartbreaker for the Harris and her team mates as they lost 2-1 to hosts Poland.

The winning goal coming two minutes from time after the Lord Wandsworth College pupil went close to scoring herself in the final period.

Game four proved to be thriller as GB and China were locked at 1-1 after 60 minutes and Shannon Douglas scored an overtime winner.

The girl's final game of the tournament saw them finish with a super 4-2 victory over Kazakhstan.

Harris said: "I was absolutely thrilled to win the Player of Match and the icing on the cake was winning the Supporters Club award. It was a great experience playing for Great Britain."

Harris now returns to action with the Basingstoke under-15 Bison. Next week the forward turns 15, and will start playing for the Bracknell Queen Bees, the top team of the Women's game in Britain.
