Hampshire Cricket have signed 20-year-old Fraser Hay on a summer contract for the 2017 season.

The all-rounder, who represented Hampshire Second XI in 12 appearances during the side’s 2016 campaign, will return to the Ageas Bowl ahead of the 2017 season.

Hay, originally from Perth, Australia, travelled to the south coast last season and featured for the Second XI as well as Southern League side Portsmouth CC.

Hay said: “I’m excited to get this opportunity with Hampshire Cricket. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as part of the Second XI last summer and I’m looking forward to continue learning and working with the Club over the next year and hopefully contributing to future success.”

Hampshire Director of Cricket, Giles White said: “We’re pleased to sign Fraser on a summer contract for next year. He has a lot to offer with both bat and ball and we’re looking forward to having him on board for the 2017 season.”

The right-handed batsman and seam bowler is currently representing WACA First Grade side Mellville in Perth, with the youngster contributing a superb 116 not out in the First XI’s latest fixture.
