A police officer who was barred from serving for sending racist and offensive WhatsApp messages has "no place within our force", Hampshire Constabulary has said.
PC Jack Thrumble was dismissed from his role in the Test Valley area after a misconduct hearing examined WhatsApp messages he sent to colleagues.
An investigation found he had sent racist and offensive messages to colleagues in a group chat whilst he was working for Dorset Police.
Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that PC Thrumble was dismissed following a hearing at the force's Eastleigh HQ.
Deputy Chief Constable Sam de Reya said: “The use of discriminatory language is utterly at odds with the values the public are rightly entitled to expect from police.
“Our communities are served by officers, staff and volunteers who they can trust, who treat them fairly, equally and with respect at all times, without prejudice.
“The messages sent by PC Thrumble, while working as a Special Constable in Dorset Police, undermines that trust.
“Anyone harbouring these types of views has no place within our force in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
"We want to see our people flourishing in a respectful working environment where everyone feels valued.”
The messages were first reported in 2022 and were sent during a conversation about a dating app.
